Michael Malone signs contract extension with Denver Nuggets

Long-time head coach to continue leading the team in the years to come

Malone has been with the Nuggets since 2015 and has led them to the playoffs in each of the past four seasons.

Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone has signed a multiyear contract extension with the team, the team announced Thursday.

Malone, 51, has been with the Nuggets since 2015 and has led them to the playoffs in each of the past four seasons. The Nuggets have won at least 50 games in each of the past three seasons and reached the Western Conference Finals in 2020.

"Michael Malone is a proven winner and one of the best coaches in the NBA," Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly said in a statement. "He has a great understanding of the game and is able to get the most out of his players. We are excited to have him continue to lead our team."

Malone is a two-time NBA All-Star Game head coach and was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2019. He was previously an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and Sacramento Kings.
