Former Post Office Boss To Face Fresh Inquiry Grilling

Former Post Office boss to face fresh inquiry grilling

Vennells to return to Post Office Horizon scandal inquiry

Ex-chief executive will be joined by BT chair Adam Crozier at probe into one of UK's biggest miscarriages of justice

Former Post Office chief executive Paula Vennells is facing the inquiry again after being stunned into silence and refusing to answer questions when she first appeared. Vennells, who went on to become chair of BT, will be joined by the current BT chair, Adam Crozier, at the probe into one of the UK's biggest miscarriages of justice.

In 2015, Vennells told MPs on the business select committee that she had seen no evidence of any problems with the Post Office's Horizon computer system. However, the inquiry has heard evidence that the system was flawed and led to hundreds of subpostmasters being wrongly convicted of theft and fraud.

Vennells has been stripped of her CBE for her role in the scandal. She is now facing fresh questions about what she knew about the problems with Horizon and why she failed to act.
