Canonization of Carlo Acutis Advances
Second Miracle Recognized
Pope Francis has recognized the second miracle needed for the canonization of Italian Blessed Carlo Acutis, who died of leukemia in 2006.
Early Life and Death
Carlo Acutis was born on May 3, 1991, in London, England, and died on October 12, 2006, in Monza, Italy, at the age of 15. He was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia just a week before his death, and he offered his suffering for the sick and suffering.
Miracles
Two miracles have been attributed to Acutis' intercession. The first miracle involved the healing of a Brazilian boy with a deformed pancreas. The second miracle, which was recognized by Pope Francis, involved the healing of a Polish child with a rare pancreatic disease.
Canonization
The cause for Acutis' canonization began in 2013. He was declared venerable in 2018 and beatified in 2020. The recognition of the second miracle clears the way for Acutis to be canonized as a saint by Pope Francis. The canonization date has not yet been announced.
